15 Cool Hot Rod Cars

Showcasing 15 cool hot rod cars from around the world. Hot rods are typically American cars with large engines modified for linear speed. The origin of the term 'hot rod' is unclear. One explanation is that the term is a contraction of 'hot roadster' meaning a roadster that was modified for speed. Another possible origin includes modifications to or replacement of the camshaft(s), sometimes known as a "stick" or "rod".

A camshaft designed to produce more power is sometimes call a "hot stick" or, here, a "hot rod". Roadsters were the cars of choice because they were light. The term became commonplace in the 1930s or 1940s as the name of a car that had been "hopped up" by modifying the engine in various ways to achieve higher performance.

The term can also apply to other items that are "souped up" for a particular purpose, such as "hot-rodded amplifier".

$4m Super Car Pile-Up in Japan

14 cool cars including 8 Ferraris, 3 Mercedes Benz and a Lamborghini were involved in a pile-up in Japan yesterday. Some hefty car insurance claims on the way!

The accident involved a group of super cars travelling to Hiroshima when one of the Ferraris lost control and caused the crash, according to Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun. Witnesses claimed that the group of luxury cars were travelling over the road's speed limit.

"The whole group of them were going 140-160 kilometres per hour (85-100mph) and then one went into a spin and all the others got pulled into that," an eyewitness said.

The speed limit on the highway was 80 kilometres per hour (50mph).

Fortunately no-one was seriously hurt although 10 people were treated for minor injuries in a crash involving £2.5m worth of luxury cars.

The road was shut for over six hours due to the pile-up as police cleaned up the pieces of the wrecked vehicles.

Modifying your world with a Lexus body kit

One of the greatest things about living in our current age is our ability to modify and customize almost everything that we purchase. This is true whether or not we are buying a pair of shoes, or a vehicle, and the Lexus body kit is a perfect example.

A Lexus body kit is a collection of vehicle modifications made from a selection of parts designed to be mounted to the outside of your car. It will give you a desired stylish appearance that is to your own personal specifications, and can include items such as new front and back end side guards, side skirts and spoilers, new roof scoops, front and back bumpers, as well as a brand new paint job.

This past decade has seen an increase in interest regarding vehicle modification and the Lexus body kit is certainly no exception. As interest has grown, so has industry involvement and you are now seeing manufacturers who are offering alternatives to the standard factory option to appeal to their customers.
Even though there are basic components that are included in the traditional body kit that all complement each other, there are some owners who will seek out select parts, choosing to create their own personal body kit.

When selecting a Lexus body kit they will typically come crafted from one of three types of materials: fiberglass, polyurethane, or carbon fiber.

The Fiberglass style, a type that is often used due to its inexpensive cost, even though it is not designed to withstand any kind of impact and is often just used for show. The polyurethane however is both relatively inexpensive and capable of being able to withstand impact. It should be noted that this is a heavier material and as such is not useable in all projects.

One the higher end of the scale is carbon fiber, which is often not used on basic street legal cars because of its high expense, however it is often utilized in show and racing.

The community support and interest in body kits is believed to have been sparked by the aftermarket tuning industry expanding in the late 1990s, and after this occurred body kit enthusiasts increased. The interest that owners have had in Lexus body kits is on going and as it grows there will continue to be exciting advancements.

Wow! Cool Motor Home - Palazzo eleMMent

As cool motor homes go, the Palazzo eleMMent valued at £1.9 million must be one of the coolest we've seen. It's like a luxury mansion or five star hotel on wheels!
  • Boasts master bedroom with en suite, rainfall shower and 40 inch flatscreen television
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint, underfloor heating, pop-up bar and roof terrace
  • More expensive per sq ft than a property in Hampstead, London

You think the outside is cool, just check out the internal pictures that look live a 5 star hotel!

The facilities include an operational fireplace, this fireplace can be use when parked. The vehicle has an automatic roof terrace with an area about 65 square meters. Another feature of EleMMent are "glow in the dark" paint to improve night safety, higher safety rating by the glass fiber plastic cabin and also the elevated seating position. The vehicle has a lounge that opens up at the press of a button and panoramic glass.

A small kitchen to attend to your taste buds and a master bedroom, truly master in size. Inside the bedroom, you would find things that you probably would not be having even in your bedroom at home! An exotic bathroom, a rainfall shower and a pop-up roof terrace. And the hardest to imagine – the vehicle has an exterior lighting that would guarantee some extra safety at night.

As far as speed is concerned, well it is truly superman speed, considering the size of the 20 tonne vehicle. Its 510bhp engine gives it a kick enough to run at the speed of 93 miles per hour at the fuel consumption rate of 13 mpg, a rate which is quite economic and humble for a vehicle of this size, thanks to its design that gives a better fuel efficiency.

Estimated to be worth around the cool £1.9 million mark, this has to be the most expensive motor home in the world!
