Lamborghini Sesto Elemento - Super Cool Concept Car!

Showcasing pictures and videos of the super cool concept car, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. Revealed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, this Lambo is known as the Sixth Element Concept in English, the concept will boast advanced carbon-fibre construction technology which allows for a total curb weight of 999kg. Estimated cost is a cool $3.44 million

This concept signals Lambo's intention to withdraw from the Top Speed War which the world's supercar makers have been embroiled in for some time, and instead focus on something much more doable - power-to-weight.

As such, this Sesto Elemento gets the Gallardo's 5.2-litre V10 wrung out to 562bhp, but sits on a carbon-fibre body weighing a paltry 999kgs, meaning rocket-powered performance in a go-kart shell. 0-62mph is sliced in just 2.5 seconds, which, as you've guessed, is the same as a friggin' Veyron. Top speed is 'over 186mph'.

But, says Lambo, "what the figures cannot convey is the Sesto Elemento's razor-sharp handling, voracious turn-in and huge braking power". An understanding of basic physics will tell you this is right. So, so Right.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Engine
5.2-litre V10 engine from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera which sports 419kW with permanent all-wheel-drive. Because of the overall weight of under one tonne, the 0-100km/h time amounts to 2.5 seconds where the top speed is 300km/h.

The Sesto element Concept from Lamborghini is meant to represent the sixth element in the periodic table and that is occupied by the element carbon. The total weight of the concept is 999 kg which translates into a healthy 2,202 lb. This weight is inclusive of the engine unit which is a V10 and also the all wheel drive transmission. The V10 delivers 570 hp and accelerates the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds which is the same for the Gallardo Superleggera. The top speed of the concept is well over 300 kmph or 200 mph.



The car is supposed to have perfect aerodynamics as per the cars maker. The ribs up front, two of them which helps to improve the stiffness of the component as well as in guiding the cool air directly to the radiator which is located behind them and to the brakes as well. Right beneath the front windscreen there are two red color triangular shaped openings. It is through these openings that the cool air is flowing.

For the rims it is made up of complete carbon fiber and incorporates a five spoke design. The interior of the car is also done up to a very minimal standard. Ergonomics has been attended to in the design of the steering wheel which can be adjusted both for height and reach. The pedals also can be adjusted longitudinally. There are just three switches embedded in the central console. These are piezoelectric ones and are to start the engine, throw the car into reveres gear and the third to switch on the lights.

E-Bugster - VW Concept Car Pics and Video

So what do we think of Volkswagen E-Bugster? 
Well, it's a completely new concept that's based on the latest version of VW's iconic Beetle. And it's electric. So far so good! For an electric car it's pretty nippy with an electric motor giving 114 horsepower (85 kW) and 199 pound-feet of torque.

Range is decent too which is detailed at about 100 miles courtesy of a 695-pound lithium ion battery pack that sites both under the rear seats and trunk floor.  A charging port is located under the VW logo at the car's nose, and, depending on the charger being used, an 80% charge can happen in just 30 minutes.

But the VW E-Bugster's coolest styling element we think is its chopped roof. Also we love the 20-inch alloy wheels (see picture below) which remind us a bit of the Fuchs wheels seen on many retro Beetles all around the country.

Audi Q3 Vail - A Snowboarders Dream Car

Snowboarding fans will love this cool concept car from Audi called 'Q3 Vail'.  This compact SUV with a winter sports theme was recently showcased at the NAIAS in Detroit. Groomed specifically for winter sports combines striking, harder-edged styling with a suitably brawny 2.5-litre TFSI petrol engine delivering 314PS.

Designed for young fans of winter sports who love skiing or snowboarding, the Audi Q3 Vail represents a new, potential variation on the compact SUV theme.

Nissan Infiniti Digital Art Competition Gallery

We're always on the look out for cool design when it comes to cars and so this digital art competition from Nissan is right up our street. Called Infiniti, it's Nissan's luxury and performance car arm to their business, based around high performance and high style in all the range. The digital art competition is in conjunction with cool design magazine designboom. This competition was the first ever 'free to enter' international digital art competition of it's type. The competition invited entrants to design a sculpture, projection or installation that would be entered into the competition and eventually whittled down to 6 finalists which are to be shown in Infiniti showrooms around the country. The bespoke boutique-hotel-style Infiniti Centre Stockport (Manchester, UK) is the latest of these showrooms and is in the middle of a week long promotion inviting people to come along and look at the art works as well as the cool cars.

With cool art and high performance cars in one place - there's something for everyone there! The art works include the work of Shinji Nukumi of Japan, entitled ‘Infiniti Passion’ – a design which expresses the potential of Infiniti cars from the inside rather than from the outside.
Crystalline DNA
Making his debut in the sphere of automotive-based art, Brano Hlavac from Slovakia has created a series of four visuals which look at the manufacturing and design of Infiniti’s models utilising the elements of crystal, the power of shape and DNA. In his designs, he highlights the importance of creativity and the automaker making their own mark, putting to one side the act of selling cars.

Value Added
The curvaceous sculpture by Slovak designers Juraj Rattaj and Jan Ziska explores the idea of creating a parking space which projects the correct image of a luxury car such as an Infiniti, whilst adding value as a piece of art in a public place rather than merely being confined to the function of hosting a vehicle.

Highway of Light
This is a digital animation conceived by Bob Trempe and Roman Torres of the USA to reflect the powerful and distinct “character lines” used in the design of every Infiniti model. The digital animation communicates the lines of Infiniti brand by combining a silhouette of a car and the moving light streaks of fast moving vehicles on a highway.

Infiniti Passion
The brainchild of Japanese artist Nukumi Shinji and NBBR, “Infiniti Passion” is composed of a series of projections on to an Infiniti model which focuses on the ‘inner’ dimension of the car in order to be able to see the potential of the marque.

Presence
The piece designed by Sanchit Sawaria and Palash Singh looks at the importance of performance and a car which creates an experience for the user beyond driving. The art does not reveal the mechanics which made the visual possible, but is the result of the discreet presence of technology such as streaks of light generated by fast moving cars.

Synthesised by Nature
Inspired by light, nature, and geometry, the artwork created by Englishman Jackson Tayler, combines three half cubes and projections to create the journey of a streak of light through an autonomous and sophisticated world. The free-flowing movements of the beam, which guide the viewer through the artwork, incorporate elements of ballet, and reflect the power of an infiniti’s engine and the elegance of the cars’ curves.

Mazda Shinari concept car pictures

 Mazda has revealed the first glimpse of its new cool car design called Shinari. Mazda wheeled out the 4 door coupe show car at a design event in Milan, but official 'studio' renderings and outdoor shots of the car have also leaked out onto the web as pictured below.

 

The Shinari's key styling cues include a prominent, gaping-mouth grille that does away with Nagare's 'smiling face', ultra-slim headlights and an Aston Martin-esque side vent just behind the front wheels. Inside, the concept is a strict 4 seater.

The future of the Shinari concept isn't clear at the moment. It could be a close preview of the next-generation Mazda 6, test mules of which were unveiled at last week's Mazda engineering showcase. Alternatively, a modified version of the Shinari could become an indirect successor to the RX-8, which has become a victim of Euro5 emissions regulations.

Cool Lamborghini Concept Car - Minotauro

Pictures of the super cool Lamborghini Minotauro concept design by Andrei Avarvarii. Minotauro (Italian for “minotaur”) was in the Greek mythology a creature with the head of a bull on the body of a man. It was chosen as a name for the car after a brainstorming that identified one distinctive feature of the Lamborghini cars. That they are beasts you fight and let you live to tell the tale.

VW Adidas Car - Golf GTI Excessive

Check out this cool car! Adidas have teamed up with VW GTI to create the aptly named 'Golf GTI Excessive'. Starting in June, Volkswagen, GTI and adidas will for the first time meld into a combined product as the Golf GTI adidas. The essential fact is that the GTI’s technology and styling – and its interior customised in the style of the adidas brand – are brought together to produce a real dynamic mix. Volkswagen expect the Golf GTI adidas to attain collectible status very quickly, given the past history of models such as the two Golf Pirelli GTIs (1983 and 2007) and the Golf GTI Edition 30 (2006). Like each of these limited-edition models, the new Golf GTI adidas will also launch with wide-ranging customised exterior and interior features. They include newly designed 18-inch “Serron” alloy wheels and a specially developed sport seat design. As on the Golf R, bi-xenon headlights and LED rear lights are aboard as standard equipment.
